GRANTS

When Southern Colorado Community Foundation was founded in 1998, the founders planned to start awarding grants in 2000. However, the situation with the economy forced Southern Colorado Community Foundation to postpone awarding grants.

Since 2004, grants have been awarded each year from Donor Advised Funds.  In 2005, 2006, and 2007  grants have been awarded on a limited basis from the Community Fund.  A few grants were made in 2008.

Because of the state of the economy, the foundation is not currently accepting grant requests.

A letter of application is the preferred method for applying; however, the Common Grant Application is acceptable.  The letter of application must include a description of the project for which the grant will be used and the number of people who will benefit.  The letter should include a specific explanation of how the funds will enhance leadership skills for the beneficiaries of the funds.

A report on the use of grant funds will be expected withing nine months of the receipt of the grant money.
